Job description

Role overview

DEAL Holdings is looking for an in-house photographer and videographer to visually capture the growth, launch activity, and day-to-day operations across its hospitality, bakery, café, restaurant, bar, retail, and lifestyle brands. The core of this role is still photography, with additional focus on short video clips, behind-the-scenes coverage, reels, and edited assets for marketing, press, internal communications, digital use, and presentations.

The right person will have a strong sense of hospitality imagery and be confident photographing food, beverages, interiors, people, products, and brand moments. You should be able to translate the energy, craftsmanship, and atmosphere of a developing hospitality group into compelling visual stories.

Key responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality photography across the group’s venues and concepts, including hotels, leisure spaces, restaurants, cafés, bakeries, bars, retail areas, kitchens, production spaces, and lifestyle settings.
  • Cover a wide range of subjects such as dishes, drinks, bakery items, cakes, pastries, bread, packaged goods, interiors, exteriors, team members, events, tastings, launches, and behind-the-scenes activity.
  • Follow the progress of new concepts from early development through menu testing, product trials, fit-out, team training, pre-opening work, supplier visits, and launch readiness.
  • Create consistent, on-brand visuals for websites, menus, presentations, press kits, marketing materials, digital channels, internal updates, and brand archives.
  • Balance polished campaign-style imagery with candid, documentary-style moments.
  • Support photography for brand launches, product rollouts, menu introductions, seasonal campaigns, events, and venue openings.
  • Record short-form video for reels, websites, presentations, digital campaigns, and storytelling purposes.
  • Capture behind-the-scenes moments, chef and team interactions, product development, food and beverage preparation, venue walkthroughs, events, tastings, launches, and lifestyle-led footage.
  • Edit concise videos such as reels, teaser edits, launch snippets, and highlight pieces with proper pacing, framing, transitions, captions, music, and basic colour correction where needed.
  • Work closely with the brand and marketing teams to produce visual content that supports launches, announcements, and ongoing activity.
  • Maintain a polished but natural visual style that avoids looking generic or overly trend-driven.
  • Photograph plated food, bakery products, cakes, pastries, breads, drinks, coffee, bottled products, retail merchandise, packaging, and branded goods.
  • Apply a practical understanding of food styling, lighting, composition, angle selection, texture, freshness, and presentation.
  • Coordinate with chefs, bakers, bar teams, and product teams to capture items at their best.
  • Support shoots for retail, delivery platforms, menus, websites, catalogues, presentations, and internal approvals.
  • Deliver both clean product-focused shots and atmospheric lifestyle imagery.
  • Document guest experience, venue atmosphere, service moments, team interactions, table settings, interiors, terraces, bars, counters, retail displays, and lifestyle scenes.
  • Create visuals that express the identity, energy, and guest experience of each concept.
  • Assist with pre-opening and launch shoots, including soft openings, events, training days, tastings, and press previews.
  • Capture both candid and directed moments involving team members, chefs, founders, partners, and guests when needed.
  • Show venues and environments in a way that reflects the full guest journey and brand positioning.
  • Record the group’s development journey, including concept creation, recipe testing, tastings, training, fit-out progress, product trials, and launch preparation.
  • Capture the people, process, detail, and operational energy behind each concept.
  • Build a long-term visual archive covering development, opening, and ongoing operations.
  • Produce content that can later support storytelling, press, investor decks, internal reports, recruitment, social channels, and brand history.
  • Work carefully in live environments without interrupting chefs, guests, staff, or daily operations.
  • Edit, retouch, colour-correct, crop, and format images for different uses.
  • Edit short videos and reels for digital, presentation, and marketing needs.
  • Export final assets in the correct formats for web, print, press, presentations, internal use, and digital platforms.
  • Apply consistent editing standards across all brands while adjusting the style when required.
  • Keep images sharp, clean, well-composed, and suitable for brand use.
  • Ensure video outputs are concise, professional, and visually strong.
  • Maintain an organised digital library with clear naming, folders, dates, brand labels, and usage notes.
  • Store raw files, edits, selects, final exports, and video assets in a structured system.
  • Make it easy for the wider team to find and use the right files.
  • Archive assets by brand, concept, project, event, product, and date, with proper backups.
  • Work with brand, marketing, culinary, bakery, bar, operations, and leadership teams to understand upcoming priorities and shooting needs.
  • Bring forward ideas for visual storytelling, shoot concepts, content formats, angles, and key brand moments.
  • Support campaign shoots, seasonal content, menu launches, product releases, venue openings, and special events.
  • Adapt your style to suit different concepts while maintaining overall quality standards.
  • Take direction from multiple stakeholders while also spotting worthwhile moments proactively.

Experience and background

  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in photography, ideally gained in hospitality, lifestyle, food and beverage, retail, luxury, hotels, restaurants, cafés, bakeries, or consumer brands.
  • A portfolio that clearly demonstrates food, beverage, product, lifestyle, interiors, and people photography.
  • Hands-on experience with behind-the-scenes coverage, events, launches, and brand storytelling.
  • Practical experience producing and editing short-form video content.
  • Experience in fast-paced environments with several brands, locations, or projects is preferred.
  • Prior work in-house, at an agency, as a freelancer, or within a hospitality group, hotel, restaurant, or lifestyle brand will be an advantage.

Skills and capabilities

  • Strong photography technique, including lighting, composition, framing, exposure control, and editing.
  • Solid video creation skills, especially for short-form digital content.
  • Strong post-production ability for both still images and videos.
  • Good understanding of hospitality presentation, food styling, lifestyle visuals, interiors, and brand-led content.
  • Ability to create both polished commercial imagery and natural documentary-style content.
  • Excellent visual judgment and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple shoots across different locations and brands.
  • Comfort working around kitchens, chefs, bar teams, restaurants, guests, retail products, and live operations.
  • Strong file management, asset organisation, editing workflow, and delivery discipline.
  • A flexible, proactive, and discreet working style that does not interrupt operations.
  • Clear communication and the ability to work with different stakeholders.
  • Ability to stay composed under pressure and deliver high-quality work to deadlines.

Technical requirements

  • Confidence using professional photo and video equipment and editing tools.
  • Familiarity with DSLR or mirrorless camera systems.
  • Ability to use lenses suited to food, product, interiors, lifestyle, and people photography.
  • Knowledge of basic lighting tools, reflectors, diffusers, tripods, and stabilisation equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
  • Ability to use Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, or similar video editing software.
  • Basic audio gear knowledge is an advantage.
  • Ability to export files in formats appropriate for web, print, presentations, press, and digital platforms.
  • Comfort managing and organising large volumes of photo and video files.

Qualifications

A degree, diploma, or certification in photography, film, media, visual communication, design, or a related field is preferred. A strong practical portfolio may be accepted instead of formal qualifications. Training in hospitality, food, product, or lifestyle photography will be an added advantage.

Portfolio requirement

Applicants should be ready to share work samples that include food photography, beverage or coffee or cocktail photography, product or retail photography, hospitality or lifestyle environments, behind-the-scenes or documentary-style images, interiors or venue photography, short-form video or reel samples, and any relevant launch, event, campaign, or brand storytelling projects.

Key performance indicators

  • The quality, consistency, and usefulness of photo assets.
  • Fast turnaround on edited images and short-form video content.
  • Strong visual coverage of development, launches, products, venues, and operations.
  • High standard of food, drink, product, lifestyle, and environment imagery.
  • A well-organised and accessible digital asset library.
  • Ability to support several brands and projects efficiently.
  • Positive feedback from brand, marketing, culinary, operations, and management teams.
  • Capability to capture both commercial-quality visuals and authentic behind-the-scenes moments.
  • Consistency in visual style across the group’s brands and concepts.

Working pattern

This position may be arranged as a full-time in-house role, a part-time role of 3 to 4 days per week, a short-term contract during pre-opening, launch, and development stages, or a project-based arrangement depending on business requirements. Flexibility will be needed for tastings, launches, events, venue openings, early production days, and occasional evening or weekend shoots.

Ideal candidate profile

The ideal applicant is a visually driven photographer with strong hospitality and lifestyle experience who can move comfortably between food, drinks, products, people, interiors, and behind-the-scenes documentation. They should have a sharp eye for detail, understand how to present premium hospitality spaces, and be able to create both refined brand imagery and authentic documentary content that tells the story of a growing group. They should also be proactive, organised, adaptable, creative, and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with several concepts developing at once.
