Role overview
A growing property management company in Hamilton and nearby areas is looking for a dependable, detail-focused in-house cleaner. This position is suited to someone who takes pride in maintaining strong property presentation, works well on their own, and values professionalism, accountability, and a team-oriented culture.
The cleaner will report to the Senior Property Manager and collaborate with the property management team across residential and commercial properties throughout Hamilton and surrounding locations.
Key duties
- Keep apartment building common areas clean and well maintained.
- Handle cleaning for smaller residential properties, including hallways and stairwells.
- Complete in-suite cleans and unit turnovers, including move-out cleaning.
- Clean office spaces and commercial properties when needed.
- Remove garbage and debris from properties.
- Carry out light outdoor upkeep such as yards, walkways, entrances, and lease-up display areas.
- Make sure all sites stay tidy, professional-looking, and ready for tenants.
- Escalate maintenance issues, damage, safety risks, and by-law concerns to management.
- Work according to cleaning checklists, inspection timelines, and property routines.
- Follow company procedures, policies, and standard operating processes set by the Senior Property Manager.
Portfolio scope
- Expected workload includes about 15–20 suite turnovers or unit cleans each month.
- Cleaning and upkeep are spread across roughly 13 RentSafe / Apartment Safe properties.
- Operational needs may lead to additional tasks or property assignments at the discretion of the Senior Property Manager.
Candidate profile
We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, reliable, organized, and comfortable working efficiently with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail, good communication, and the ability to adapt to a busy schedule are important for success in this role.
Requirements
- Must be dependable, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Need a flexible schedule and availability.
- A valid driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle are mandatory.
- Must be able to move between properties as required.
- Should be comfortable working independently and efficiently.
- Must be able to use mobile apps and company software in daily work.
- A reliable mobile device is required for regular communication and operations.
- Required systems include Buildium, ClockShark, Monday.com, and HappyCo Inspection Reports.
- ClockShark must be used for clocking in and out at properties and recording daily work activity.
- Experience with Google tools such as Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Docs is needed.
- Professional written communication and email etiquette are expected.
- Working knowledge of municipal by-laws is important, including property standards, apartment maintenance expectations, and Hamilton Apartment Safe / RentSafe programs.
- Prior cleaning or property maintenance experience will be considered an advantage.
- Cleaning experience of 2 years is required.
- Residential cleaning or hospitality background is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, stay organized, and complete work on time is expected.
- Strong people skills and a customer-service mindset are important.
