Job description
Role overview
This role sits within the Diagnostic Imaging team and reports to the Manager of Diagnostic Services, or another designated leader. The position is responsible for front-desk reception and clerical coordination, along with additional administrative support as needed.
Employer and workplace context
The position is with Shared Health at Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Shared Health supports patient-centered clinical and preventive services across the province, while also handling broader administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations. The job is part of the Non-Clinical stream and falls under the CUPE union.
Employment details
This is a 1.00 FTE term role with an anticipated start date of June 29, 2026 and an anticipated end date of January 1, 2027. The term may conclude earlier as allowed under the collective agreement. The work arrangement is fully in person, with day, evening, and non-conforming shifts. Daily working time is 7.75 hours and annual base hours are 2015.
Compensation
The posted pay range is $22.117, $22.766, $23.435, $24.123, $24.834, and $25.565 per hour.
Experience and education
Applicants should have experience with general office procedures. Prior use of a Radiology Information System is an asset. A complete high school education, according to Manitoba standards, is required, along with a recognized Medical Terminology course.
Skills and qualifications
The ideal candidate can type at least 30 words per minute in a VGH typing test and has strong English communication skills, both spoken and written. Excellent interpersonal abilities, sound organization, and the capacity to manage competing priorities and multiple tasks at once are important. Accuracy, professional collaboration, and the ability to work effectively with people at different levels, both inside and outside the organization, are also required. Strong keyboarding skills and experience with Windows-based computer systems are necessary.
Physical demands
This position requires the ability to stand or walk for long periods, bend, reach, lift, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The role may involve working in a stressful environment with frequent interruptions, and the employee may need to escort mobile patients to other parts of the hospital.
Conditions of employment
A satisfactory Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, a Child Abuse Registry Check, and an Adult Abuse Registry Check are required before employment. These checks must be current, meaning they were completed within six months before the start date. Any service charges related to these checks are the responsibility of the successful candidate.
