Role overview
PrepWorld is hiring a Hygiene Team Leader to supervise and actively carry out cleaning and sanitation across a food manufacturing site. The position is focused on keeping production zones, equipment, and machinery cleaned to the required food hygiene standard in a busy fresh-cut fruit factory.
Key duties
- Lead the hygiene team on shift and help keep the plant operating to high housekeeping standards.
- Spot, record, and report hygiene non-conformances to the Hygiene Manager or Supervisor.
- Track corrective actions and help stop the same issues from happening again.
- Make sure all cleaning and sanitation work is finished properly and that hygiene standards are maintained in the assigned area throughout production.
- Use cleaning chemicals, pressure washers, and pressure-water hoses safely and correctly.
- Keep PPE and disposable consumables stocked and available during the shift.
- Run, monitor, and look after cleaning and tray-wash equipment, including chemical checks and basic maintenance checks; escalate equipment issues to a Hygiene Supervisor or Manager straight away when needed.
- Maintain GMP and GHP standards at all times in the hygiene area.
- Ensure the team follows COSHH safety guidance when handling chemicals.
- Train new hygiene staff on procedures and keep training records and related documents current.
- Assign tasks fairly across the team and help ensure work is completed on time.
- Maintain the systems, files, and hygiene records needed to meet customer requirements and audit expectations.
- Carry out safety checks and start-up checks, follow the required procedures and documentation, and take action if any shortfalls or non-conformances are found.
- Coordinate breaks and absences so cover is in place.
- Keep communication strong across the department so the hygiene plan is followed.
- Help embed the highest standards of food safety and hygiene across the team.
- Complete hygiene control sheets and schedules accurately.
