Job description
Role Overview
This position is part of the Engineering & Facilities function at Aloft Abu Dhabi, based at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre on Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It is a full-time, non-management role that is performed on-site.
What You Will Do
- Handle guest maintenance requests promptly and work with guests or customers to solve repair and upkeep concerns.
- Carry out preventive care on tools, kitchen assets, and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
- Inspect tools, equipment, and machines visually for wear, damage, or malfunction.
- Move and handle equipment such as tools and radios as needed.
- Locate, identify, and operate shut-off valves for equipment and building utilities.
- Track maintenance stock and request parts and supplies when required.
- Share daily work progress and issues with other shifts using approved communication methods and standards.
- Work across multiple technical areas, including air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical systems, mechanical systems, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic controls, carpentry, finish work, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy-saving practices, and general building maintenance.
- Complete surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repairs, light bulb and AC filter replacements, and full cleanup after work.
- Test, diagnose, and carry out basic repairs on equipment, plumbing fixtures, electrical parts, guestroom items, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switches, outlets, lamps, and extension cords.
- Program televisions and manage general housekeeping and engineering inventory tasks.
- Use the Lockout/Tagout process before starting maintenance work.
- Repair interior and exterior landscaping features, including sprinkler systems.
- Use basic computer tools to enter air handler schedules and adjust temperatures.
- Follow company policies, safety procedures, and security standards, and report hazards, incidents, accidents, or injuries.
- Complete required safety training and certifications and store flammable materials correctly.
- Maintain a neat professional appearance and protect confidential information and company property.
- Deliver courteous guest service, support people with disabilities, and respond to guest needs with professionalism.
- Build positive working relationships, support team goals, and communicate clearly and respectfully with colleagues.
- Be able to move, lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 50 pounds independently and heavier items with help.
- Work on stairs, service ramps, and ladders, and perform bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, and similar physical tasks.
- Use computers to enter and find work-related information.
- Take on other reasonable duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED is preferred. The role also expects some background in general maintenance, including interior and exterior surface preparation and painting. Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is considered an advantage. No supervisory experience is required. A valid driver’s license is mandatory.
