Role Overview

The Human Resources Officer role is based in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, providing dedicated HR support for Southern Cross Education Institute’s Australian offices. This full-time position is integral in delivering seamless, compliant, and employee-focused HR services. The role encompasses managing the entire employee lifecycle for Australian staff, fostering a collaborative and professional workplace culture.

Key Duties

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for Australia-based positions, ranging from job posting and candidate evaluations to interview coordination, reference verifications, and employment contract processing.
  • Oversee onboarding, induction, probation assessments, and related paperwork for new Australian hires.
  • Maintain meticulous employee records and HR databases in accordance with privacy laws and statutory requirements.
  • Assist in performance management activities, including appraisals and documentation.
  • Handle staff separation procedures such as exit documentation, interviews, and data updates.
  • Review and update job descriptions across the organization regularly.
  • Support leave management, timesheet reviews, and assist with payroll inquiries concerning Australian personnel.
  • Ensure adherence to Australian labor laws, including the Fair Work Act 2009, National Employment Standards, and applicable awards.
  • Help develop, review, and maintain HR policies, handbooks, and procedural documents tailored to Australian legislation.
  • Prepare required HR documentation for audits and maintain records related to training, professional growth, and workplace health and safety compliance.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to HR-related inquiries from staff and management.
  • Contribute to workforce wellbeing initiatives, employee engagement, and internal communications.
  • Coordinate with recruitment agencies and other external partners as needed.
  • Provide administrative assistance to the HR Director and senior management teams.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • A tertiary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Between 2 and 3 years of experience in human resources administration or as a generalist HR professional.
  • Practical understanding of Australian employment regulations, specifically the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards.
  • Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, and general employee administrative functions.
  • Excellent organizational abilities with great attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Attributes

  • Familiarity with the education or Registered Training Organization (RTO) sector.
  • Knowledge of HR information systems or payroll platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
