Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced HR Generalist to join our dynamic team in Springfield. The role involves leveraging business acumen and human resources expertise to deliver comprehensive HR support and guidance. Key responsibilities include advising on recruitment, termination, performance management, employee relations, and HR best practices, contributing to a positive work environment and productive management-personnel relationships.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as the main HR liaison for the Division, ensuring uniform application of HR policies and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Manage recruitment processes, including identifying effective sourcing channels like social media, educational institutions, trade schools, referrals, job fairs, and online boards, and monitor their success.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to define personnel needs, job duties, required qualifications, and skills for open positions.
- Evaluate candidates for role suitability based on skills, education, and experience.
- Supervise internal job postings and ensure that managers and employees comply with protocols.
- Coordinate and promote the employee referral program.
- Handle pre- and post-employment procedures such as testing, criminal background checks, motor vehicle record reviews, e-verify, reference checks, drug screens, drive tests, physicals, and other recruitment-related activities.
- Conduct comprehensive new hire orientation sessions.
- Ensure recruitment processes align with standards and maintain compliance.
- Initiate partnerships and outreach with relevant EEO/AAP agencies.
- Maintain the applicant tracking system and manage AAP-related processes.
- Keep job descriptions current and develop standardized interview guides.
- Recommend innovative approaches, policies, and procedures to enhance service efficiency and effectiveness.
- Conduct exit interviews.
- Operate effectively within time-sensitive deadlines.

- Perform other duties as assigned that align with the core HR generalist role.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree combined with at least four years of human resources experience or equivalent professional experience.
- Preference for candidates with experience managing unionized workforces.
- Experience in manufacturing and/or distribution industries is advantageous.
- Certifications such as SHRM Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) are desirable.
- Excellent communication abilities including writing, speaking, and listening.
- Familiarity with HIPAA, confidentiality laws, OSHA safety regulations, and employment laws.
- Capability to work independently and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
