Role Overview
The Human Resources Business Partner will help deliver the company’s people strategy by attracting, growing, and retaining strong talent across the IBU teams. Based in India, this role supports a population of about 250 employees and acts as a trusted advisor to both employees and leaders by aligning HR practices with business objectives.
Reporting Line and Location
This position sits within the Global HR department and reports to Asha Srinivas, Manager, Human Resources India, SEA and MEA. The role is based in IBU, India, with the job location listed as Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will work closely with 2–3 business units and support leaders with practical and strategic HR guidance. Your work will involve turning business goals into people plans, strengthening retention and development, handling employee relations matters, and ensuring HR processes run smoothly across the employee lifecycle.
You will also partner with HR operations for onboarding, exit management, and HR reporting, help implement compensation, rewards, and benefits initiatives, and collaborate with global HR colleagues on cross-functional projects. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support broader business goals.
Operational and Compliance Expectations
You are expected to follow safe working practices, participate in safety briefings when required, and take responsibility for the safety of yourself, employees, contractors, and visitors. The role also includes ensuring compliance with relevant business systems, processes, certifications, regulations, and laws, while supporting internal quality checks and audits.
What the Role Involves
- Partner with 2–3 business units as a dependable HR advisor for leaders.
- Convert business priorities into actionable workforce and people strategies.
- Design and support initiatives that improve attraction, retention, and employee growth.
- Handle employee grievances and engagement efforts to encourage continuous improvement.
- Work with HR operations to ensure employee lifecycle activities are executed consistently and in line with policy.
- Support leaders through exits, disciplinary cases, investigations, and other employee relations issues.
- Coach managers on learning and development needs and coordinate with the talent team on training solutions.
- Contribute to compensation, rewards, and benefits planning and implementation.
- Collaborate with the wider global HR network on shared projects and local rollouts.
- Promote strong engagement and retention while reinforcing the MillerKnoll culture.
- Take on other assigned responsibilities that help achieve business objectives.
- Assist with onboarding, exit processes, and HR reporting activities.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of relevant business partnering experience; experience in multinational organizations is preferred.
- 5 years of progressive responsibility in a professional HR role with strong relationships across both leadership and employee groups.
- Solid analytical ability, ideally with exposure to compensation and benefits or strategic HR partnering.
- Working knowledge of Indian labour laws and global HR practices.
- Experience with HRIS tools is an advantage.
- Proven ability to manage retention and employee grievance matters.
- Exposure to other HR areas such as employee development, onboarding, and employee relations.
- High energy and commitment to contributing in a growing business environment.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, and collaborate effectively with a global team.
- Strong attention to data accuracy and analytical detail.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.
- Capability to plan and manage projects effectively with sound business judgement.
- Ability to address complex HR matters with discretion, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
