Role summary

The Human Resources Business Partner reports to the Director, Human Resources and acts as a strategic advisor to leaders. This position provides end-to-end HR support across the employee lifecycle, with a focus on workforce planning, employee relations, and organizational effectiveness. The role also ensures HR practices remain aligned with employment legislation, company policy, and current best practices.

Work location and schedule

This position is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It follows a hybrid arrangement with three days in the office and two days working from home, although this setup may change over time. Some travel to other GTA facilities will be required.

Compensation

The annual base salary range for this role is CAD 108,000 to CAD 130,000. The final starting salary will depend on market location, job-related knowledge, role complexity, skills, experience, and internal equity.

Responsibilities

  • Work with leaders on employee relations issues such as performance management, workplace investigations, conflict resolution, and terminations.
  • Develop trusted relationships with leaders and guide them on people strategy and execution.
  • Support key talent initiatives including talent reviews, succession planning, performance management, and employee engagement.
  • Drive organizational change activities such as restructures and workforce transitions while maintaining compliance with employment law.
  • Coach leaders on employee relations matters using sound employment law knowledge and HR best practices.
  • Help shape communication and change management plans that support business transformation.
  • Use data and insights to support talent decisions and strengthen organizational effectiveness.
  • Take part in HR projects, process enhancements, and initiatives that improve efficiency and employee experience.
  • Assist in developing HR policies and employee communications that reflect business priorities.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and business leaders to support recruitment activities.
  • Travel occasionally to other GTA facilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive HR experience, including exposure to employee relations and HR business partnering.
  • Background supporting senior leaders in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment legislation and employee relations practices.
  • Experience in unionized environments is considered an advantage.
  • Exposure to Technology client groups is considered an advantage.
  • CHRP or CHRL designation, or progress toward one, is considered an asset.
