Role overview
This is a 12-month parental leave contract for an experienced HR Business Partner to join a global organisation’s People Team in Sydney. The position is a high-visibility advisory role with direct exposure to Partners and senior leaders, supporting culture, capability, and organisational performance across multiple locations in Australia and Asia.
The environment is fast-moving and intellectually demanding, so this opportunity will suit a commercially minded HR professional who is comfortable handling complex people matters, building trusted relationships, and influencing decisions that affect engagement and team performance.
Key responsibilities
- Provide coaching and guidance to Partners on leadership effectiveness, culture, engagement, and talent growth.
- Deliver practical, commercially sound advice on employee relations issues, employment obligations, probation management, performance concerns, and terminations.
- Oversee people operations for assigned business units, ensuring employee lifecycle processes are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Work with senior HR leaders on remuneration reviews, talent mapping, promotion processes, and workforce planning.
- Support and promote initiatives related to DEI, wellbeing, learning and development, and employee recognition.
- Develop strong working relationships with Partners and business leaders to enable informed decision-making.
- Contribute to engagement and organisational effectiveness programs that improve employee experience and business outcomes.
- Take part in strategic People projects and ongoing process improvement activities across the function.

You should be a confident and proactive HR professional who can manage sensitive situations with sound judgement, discretion, and commercial awareness. The role calls for someone who can operate credibly with senior stakeholders while remaining collaborative and solution-focused.
Additional information
The role requires at least 4 years of experience as an HR Business Partner within legal or professional services settings. A completed HR degree or a relevant qualification is required. The employer is interviewing immediately, and the successful candidate is expected to begin as soon as possible.
