About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned HR Benefits Lead to take full ownership of our employee benefits programs, enhancing the overall business infrastructure to support a scalable and high-performing benefits team. This role demands an expert who will oversee benefits administration with a focus on regulatory compliance, employee satisfaction, and collaboration with both internal and external partners.
Main Responsibilities
- Administer comprehensive employee benefits across a diverse workforce spread over more than 30 states.
- Manage all facets of health and welfare benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and optional voluntary benefits.
- Lead administration of the company’s 401(k) retirement plan, including compliance aspects like non-discrimination testing and auditing.
- Work in close partnership with payroll to assure precise benefit deductions, enrollments, and adjustments due to life events.
- Handle leave policies, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, short-term and long-term disability, and relevant state mandates.
- Maintain compliance with multiple jurisdictional regulations related to employee benefits.
- Develop robust relationships with brokers, advisors, and third-party administrators to negotiate better plan designs, manage costs, and enhance service quality.
- Analyze usage patterns, industry trends, and staff feedback to suggest improvements in benefit offerings.
- Create clear, accessible communications to help employees understand complex benefit plans and make informed decisions.
- Establish scalable processes, documentation, and controls to support future growth of the benefits team.
- Act as the chief point of contact for employee queries and escalated concerns about benefits.
Required Qualifications
- At least seven years of progressive experience in HR benefits with hands-on administration responsibility.
- Proven knowledge managing benefits for workforces spanning 30+ states.
- In-depth familiarity with medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and voluntary benefits.
- Strong expertise in 401(k) plan management, including legal compliance, testing, and vendor oversight.
- Experience administering leave programs such as FMLA, ADA accommodations, and disability plans.
- Comprehensive understanding of pertinent regulations including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ACA.
- Capability to collaborate with payroll to achieve benefit accuracy and regulatory adherence.
- Track record of building and maintaining strategic vendor relationships and improving cost efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills to translate complex information for staff and leadership.
- Strong analytical thinking, organization, and project management proficiency.
