Role overview
A global healthcare manufacturing company is looking for a Human Factors Specialist to help with usability and human factors work. This role is a contract opportunity with hybrid flexibility and requires in-person support during usability study sessions in Hoffman Estates, IL. The position is best suited for someone who wants practical experience in product usability, regulated product development, and documentation that supports compliance.
What you'll do
- Support the run-through and delivery of human factors usability studies while following established direction
- Help carry out formative and summative usability studies across several programs
- Manage study coordination tasks such as scheduling, preparation, and execution
- Be present on-site during usability testing sessions
- Act as a moderator or observer when studies are underway
- Record detailed notes on user actions, mistakes, and any usability issues observed
- Assist with both qualitative and quantitative analysis of study data
- Help prepare usability and human factors documentation, reports, and related deliverables
- Support review of labeling feedback and product design suggestions
- Draft and revise usability study protocols with guidance from senior team members
- Make sure all documentation follows relevant regulatory expectations and internal processes
What we're looking for
A bachelor’s degree is required, along with 1-3 years of experience in human factors or usability studies. Candidates should bring strong organizational, analytical, and documentation abilities, plus working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Prior exposure to FDA Human Factors Guidance, IEC 62366-1, ISO 14971, or ISO 13485 is preferred. The role also requires availability to be on-site during business hours from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for usability study sessions.
Additional details
This is a 6-8 month contract assignment with hybrid work flexibility. In-person attendance is required when usability studies are being conducted. The opportunity offers exposure to regulated product development and the chance to build experience in a medical device environment, which is preferred for this role.

Pay
The pay range for this role is $60 to $70 per hour.
