About the Role
Nordex Group is seeking a passionate Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager to oversee windfarm operations across the UK and Ireland. This is a permanent, full-time position that may be based in either country with regular travel to regional offices and service sites. The working week consists of 37 hours with an early finish at 3pm on Fridays.
Key Responsibilities
- Support operational managers in investigating accidents, incidents, near-misses, unsafe behaviors, and conditions, ensuring corrective and preventive measures are implemented; manage related reports and liaise with authorities as necessary.
- Ensure effective communication of lessons learned from incidents.
- Provide guidance on health and safety challenges related to projects and sites, collaborating with sales, service managers, operations managers, and component exchange teams.
- Advise on pre-qualification and contractual HSE requirements.
- Assist in the development of site-specific health and safety plans and statements.
- Conduct joint site inspections with site and regional leaders.
- Perform HSE audits and recommend remedial actions, tracking their completion.
- Advise on health and safety documentation requirements.
- Support operational teams with O&M phase health and safety issues.
- Assess and audit contractors to ensure compliance and suitability.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with regional, site, and local managers as well as client HSE staff.
- Drive closure of action items raised through HSE consultation processes.
- Champion health and safety communication within the workforce.
- Pursue external recognition for QHSE excellence through awards and presentations.
- Support construction project teams as needed.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Substantial experience in HSE management, ideally within the wind energy sector.
- Possession of a Health and Safety qualification (preferably Level 6, though other levels will be considered).
- Strong practical understanding of civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering including heavy lifting and working safely at heights.
- Capability to effectively handle multiple priorities and meet agreed deadlines.
- Willingness and ability to quickly acquire knowledge about wind farms, turbine technology, and Nordex operational methods.
- Comfortable with heights and able to pass medical assessments necessary for the role.
- Excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation in both the UK and Ireland.
- Balanced and practical approach to risk management.
- Strong analytical skills to develop pragmatic solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.
- Resilient, creative, and positive attitude to navigating challenges in a dynamic industry.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; SAP experience is advantageous.
- Valid UK/EU driving license.
- Willingness to travel frequently and stay overnight as required.
