Job description
Role overview
The HSE Manager will be responsible for driving health, safety, and environmental management across oil and gas operations. This role focuses on maintaining regulatory and company compliance while embedding a strong safety-first mindset throughout projects and operating sites.
Key responsibilities
- Create and roll out HSE policies, procedures, and strategic plans for projects and day-to-day operations.
- Make sure all activities meet relevant oil and gas safety standards and statutory requirements.
- Take the lead on process safety work such as HAZOP, HAZID, and other risk assessments.
- Maintain safe working conditions during construction, commissioning, and live operations.
- Track contractor HSE performance and intervene where standards are not being met.
- Carry out incident investigations and ensure preventive and corrective actions are completed.
- Oversee compliance with environmental controls including waste handling, emissions, and spill management.
- Plan, execute, and review safety audits and field inspections.
- Organize emergency preparedness planning and lead drill activities.
- Build safety awareness through coaching, communication, and training across teams.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, HSE, or a closely related discipline is required.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or ISO are an advantage.
- At least 12 years of HSE experience in the oil and gas sector is needed.
- Background in EPC projects and operational facilities is expected.
- Hands-on exposure to construction sites and live plant environments is necessary.
- Strong understanding of oil and gas safety frameworks, including ISO, API, and OSHA.
- Practical experience in process safety and risk control is required.
- Leadership, communication, contractor management, and problem-solving skills are important.
