Job description
About the Role
Staples operates as a business-to-business company, and this role helps keep that work connected. The Human Resources team focuses on building an inclusive, forward-thinking culture through learning and development, compensation and benefits support, recruiting tools, and other programs that help attract new talent and retain current associates. The team is described as compassionate, hardworking, and dedicated, with work that has a visible day-to-day impact on the organization.
What You’ll Do
The HR Services group is responsible for delivering outstanding support to managers and associates, with the aim of improving associate satisfaction. This position is suited to someone who is highly customer-oriented and enjoys helping with HR, benefits, and payroll questions across different communication channels such as phone and email.
The HR Services Administrator acts as a primary point of support across many human resources areas, including payroll, associate relations, benefits, workers’ compensation, leave administration, talent management, talent acquisition, unemployment, and compensation. The team manages a high number of inquiries and works in several HR systems at once to complete administrative processes efficiently.
The expected service standard is to resolve issues within a reasonable timeframe, generally within 24 business hours or less.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate brings strong customer service skills, clear communication, and the ability to manage several tasks at the same time while handling large volumes of work accurately. Strong attention to detail, a polished approach to internal and external support, and the ability to stay organized while balancing competing priorities are important for success in this role.
Applicants should be self-directed, interested in improving processes, and capable of delivering a consistently high-quality experience. The role also calls for professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to deal with sensitive or difficult situations with care.
Required or preferred background includes a BS/BA in Business Administration or 1–3 years of experience in a business, customer service, HR, or related setting. A background in HR, benefits, or payroll is valued, and Spanish fluency is considered an advantage. The role also requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work with people at all levels inside and outside the organization, and the capacity to solve problems analytically and creatively under pressure with a strong sense of urgency.
Additional Qualifications
Experience working in a fast-paced, confidential, and time-sensitive environment is preferred, along with strong organizational skills and dependable follow-through. A high sense of urgency is expected.
Perks and Benefits
Staples offers an inclusive culture supported by associate-led Business Resource Groups, 112 hours of PTO, and a holiday schedule that includes 7 observed paid holidays plus 1 floating holiday. Additional benefits include online and retail discounts, company-matched 401(k), and physical and mental health wellness programs.
Compensation Notes
The posted salary range reflects the expected compensation at the time of posting. Final base pay may vary based on experience, skills, education, business needs, location, and internal equity. Some positions may also qualify for overtime pay depending on applicable federal and state laws.
