Job description

Role Overview

Windward Management Limited is hiring an HR Officer for Mulranny Park Hotel in Mallaranny, County Mayo, Ireland. The position is based onsite at the hotel location in Murrevagh (W648+9H).

The role focuses on supporting the Human Resources function so that it operates smoothly and remains aligned with the hotel’s internal policies, procedures, and legal requirements. The hotel is a 4-star coastal property overlooking Clew Bay and Croagh Patrick, with a heritage dating back to 1897 and a strong connection to the Wild Atlantic Way and the Great Western Greenway.

What You Will Do

  • Support the hotel’s HR activity in line with approved procedures and, where needed, help refine them with the Cluster HR Manager.
  • Promote the hotel as an attractive place to work and help strengthen its employer brand.
  • Forecast recruitment needs and plan hiring well ahead of operational demand.
  • Contribute to building recruitment plans, including strategies for peak trading periods.
  • Liaise with schools, colleges, public bodies, and other education or government organisations to raise the hotel’s profile and support future talent pipelines.
  • Support employee communications across the hotel.
  • Assist the General Manager with weekly payroll preparation.
  • Stay current on HR practices and ensure hotel policies and procedures reflect industry standards.
  • Keep up to date with employment law and help ensure compliance at all times.
  • Maintain employee records and an organised HR filing system.
  • Handle payroll processing for new joiners, departures, and contractual amendments on weekly and monthly payroll.
  • Work with payroll colleagues to resolve payroll-related queries.
  • Ensure weekly payroll is completed accurately and on time.
  • Review the issue and filing of contracts, terms and conditions, job descriptions, handbooks, and new starter paperwork.
  • Prepare employee letters and supporting documents such as social welfare forms, mortgage letters, and loan application letters.
  • Monitor break compliance and time/attendance, and ensure managers take corrective action where necessary.
  • Make sure work permission documentation is valid and properly filed.
  • Support the appraisal process and help ensure the agreed procedure is followed.
  • Manage grievance and disciplinary matters in line with the approved standard.
  • Carry out investigations, disciplinary meetings, and grievance meetings.
  • Provide guidance on grievance, discipline, harassment, performance management, and employment terms.
  • Support the Cluster HR Manager on investigations and employee relations cases across the wider group.
  • Respond to employee queries promptly and professionally.
  • Track turnover and help put corrective measures in place where needed.
  • Manage absenteeism and occupational health attendance together with the Cluster HR Manager.
  • Compile, update, and circulate company policies and procedures in line with current best practice and employment law.
  • Coordinate training activities across the hotel.
  • Deliver both mandatory and development training.
  • Ensure every new employee receives a full induction and all required statutory training.
  • Order and replenish uniforms, badges, and safety shoes as required.
  • Maintain consistent uniform standards across the hotel.
  • Help ensure the hotel remains fully compliant with health and safety legislation.
  • Work with the management team and HR Manager to identify training needs and coordinate delivery plans.
  • Ensure each department has appropriate training plans and monitor how effective they are.
  • Deliver internal training sessions when required.
  • Organise staff social events.
  • Keep SOP manuals current and actively used in each department.
  • Support the monitoring of incidents and accidents within the hotel.
  • Check that holiday, public holiday, and lieu time entitlements are calculated correctly and tracked properly.
  • Store and handle HR and recruitment information in line with the company’s GDPR policy and procedures.
  • Prepare and present key HR metrics and analysis to the HR Manager.
  • Complete projects assigned by the HR Manager.
  • Attend hotel meetings and contribute as required.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties requested by the General Manager or Cluster HR Manager.

Candidate Profile

The role calls for previous strength in recruitment and employee relations, along with hands-on experience using HR systems. Timepoint time and attendance experience is an advantage. You should also be comfortable with health and safety systems and training platforms, and be highly competent with Microsoft Office and general IT tools.

To succeed in this position, you will need to be organised, communicate well, and work confidently with people at all levels. The role also requires the ability to operate both independently and as part of a team in a busy, fast-moving hospitality environment.
