Job Overview
The HR Officer will manage the administration of both local and expatriate employees, ensuring compliance with all labor and immigration regulations in Mauritius. This role covers work and residence permit processes, employee welfare, accommodation management, and liaison with government bodies, emphasizing legal compliance and high employee support standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle administration of work and residence permits for local and expatriate staff, including applications, renewals, and cancellations.
- Ensure full compliance with Mauritian labor and immigration laws and maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative changes.
- Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and exit processes for employees.
- Manage employee welfare initiatives, including accommodation and dormitory oversight in conjunction with health and safety teams.
- Conduct joint health and safety inspections with relevant officers, report non-compliance, and monitor corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed reports on permit status, accommodation, and compliance matters.
- Represent the company during official inspections and liaise regularly with government authorities such as the Ministry of Labour, Economic Development Board, and Passport and Immigration Office.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in HR administration and immigration compliance.
Knowledge Requirements
- Familiarity with Workers' Rights Act 2019, Employment Relations Act 2008, Occupational Safety and Health Act 2005.
- Expertise in immigration legislation and permit protocols.
