Job description

Role Overview

We seek an experienced HR Manager to oversee human resource functions for a 250-member blue-collar team in the textile manufacturing sector. The incumbent will be responsible for staffing, payroll management, and ensuring strict adherence to international compliance standards to facilitate smooth factory operations, maintain safety, and pass export audits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain continuous readiness for international buyer audits (BSCI, Sedex, OEKO-TEX) through daily documentation and compliance.
  • Ensure enforcement of all applicable local labor legislations including Factories Act, Minimum Wages, Provident Fund, and Employee State Insurance Corporation regulations.
  • Promptly identify and remediate any compliance issues to protect export contracts.
  • Conduct recruitment and selection for various factory roles such as tailors, weavers, checkers, and packers.
  • Manage external manpower agencies to fulfill seasonal labor demands effectively.
  • Facilitate rapid induction and orientation programs for new employees covering factory protocols and quality benchmarks.
  • Serve as the liaison between workforce and management to resolve grievances and foster open communication channels.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the production floor to understand workforce challenges and evaluate workplace conditions.
  • Oversee worker welfare facilities including potable water, clean canteen and restrooms, as well as first-aid provisions.
  • Possess resilience and fluency in the local language for efficient conflict resolution at the ground level.
  • Manage biometric attendance systems, validate shift allotments, and support payroll with accurate overtime and leave computations.
  • Monitor absenteeism and collaborate with supervisors to ensure adequate staffing on production lines.
  • Enforce safety practices including mandatory use of protective equipment and organize regular safety drills, machinery safety trainings, and health camps.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

  • A graduate in Human Resources, Social Work, Labor Law, or a relevant discipline.
  • 7 to 12 years of progressive HR experience within manufacturing environments like home textiles, garments, or apparel preferred.
  • Experience in managing bulk recruitment for manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, or facility management sectors.
  • Proven expertise in managing third-party labor contractors and vendors.
  • Established connections with local vocational institutions such as ITIs and polytechnics for talent sourcing.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in factory-based HR departments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in labor relations, union engagement, and workforce planning aligned with corporate growth objectives.
  • Strong command over HR information systems and data analytics.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment regulations, labor laws, and adherence to corporate governance standards.
  • Successful track record of managing and passing BSCI and Sedex compliance audits.
  • Fluency in the local language to effectively communicate with the workforce.
