Job description
Role overview
Tesla is advancing the shift to sustainable energy through rapid innovation, fast execution, and large-scale delivery. In Berlin-Brandenburg, the Gigafactory is a major driver of Tesla’s growth in Europe, supported by a highly committed workforce. The company is seeking an experienced HR professional who can strengthen employee engagement and help build an organisation that scales effectively in a fast-moving environment.
This role is suited to someone who enjoys working across many HR topics, partnering closely with business leaders, and contributing to a culture of pace, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. The team values high standards, strong ownership, and a practical mindset focused on results, people growth, and delivering ambitious outcomes.
Key responsibilities
In this generalist HR business partner role, you will support several business areas, including Engineering, Charging, Energy, and Tech. You will advise managers and employees, help ensure HR policies and procedures are applied in line with legal and audit requirements, and contribute to building a strong people culture while avoiding unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Roll out key HR initiatives locally, ensuring they align with the wider people strategy and business needs.
- Coach and support local leaders on an ongoing basis to strengthen their management capability.
- Lead and facilitate discussions around the annual employee engagement survey, then work with management on actions, follow-up, and accountability.
- Partner with leadership to shape and reinforce workplace culture, including sustainability, health, and wellbeing.
- Provide guidance on local labour law matters and support managers in conflict resolution and grievance handling, working with Employee Relations and Employment Counsel as needed.
- Help plan and deliver workshops for local stakeholders on relevant topics such as leadership, teamwork, labour law, and new process rollouts.
- Act as a visible advocate for the HR team and help strengthen its reputation and presence on the ground.
What you bring
The ideal candidate has solid experience in a broad HR generalist capacity and understands local employment law and practical HR standards. You should be comfortable working with people at all levels, communicate clearly in both English and German, and have a track record of positively shaping team performance and relationships.
- Proven experience in a broad HR generalist or HR business partner role.
- Working knowledge of local labour and employment law, along with sound HR best practices.
- Strong written and spoken English and German communication skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships across functions and seniority levels.
- Demonstrated ability to influence teams in a constructive way.
- Respectful, inclusive approach with the ability to engage people at every level.
- Comfort working in a fast-changing, evolving, and highly dynamic business.
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Compensation and benefits
Tesla offers a competitive compensation package that may include salary plus Tesla shares or bonuses. Typical benefits mentioned for this role include a pension programme, 30 vacation days, flexible work arrangements, employee insurance coverage, relocation support, and commuting assistance.
Work environment
You will be based at Tesla’s state-of-the-art Gigafactory, working alongside driven colleagues on complex and meaningful challenges with a strong focus on innovation, speed, and impact.
