Position Overview
The HR Generalist role, reporting to the HR Business Partner, offers comprehensive HR support across multiple laundry and linen service facilities in Cork City. This position involves direct employee and managerial assistance with recruitment, employee relations, performance management, HR administration, and strict adherence to Irish employment legislation. The role requires regular travel between sites using personal transportation.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver first-line HR guidance and support for employee relations including disciplinary and grievance handling, managing absences, and performance concerns.
- Assist with investigations and prepare documentation in compliance with company policies and local employment law.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and foster a positive work atmosphere.
- Handle recruitment activities from job advertising through interviewing and hiring for allocated sites.
- Organize onboarding and induction processes to ensure new employees are well-integrated.
- Maintain accurate personnel records while complying with GDPR.
- Generate timely and detailed HR reports.
- Support probation assessments and performance improvement plans.
- Advise managers on employee development and engagement best practices.
- Ensure HR policies and protocols remain legally compliant.
- Identify training needs and coordinate relevant learning programs.
- Contribute to the delivery of HR training sessions and workshops.
- Support initiatives aimed at boosting employee engagement and wellbeing.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusivity within the organization.
Candidate Profile
- Between 1 to 3 years' experience in an HR generalist or administrative capacity.
- Solid understanding of employment law and HR practices within the Republic of Ireland.
- Experience managing employee relations cases.
- Degree qualified in Human Resources, Business, or allied disciplines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Discretion in handling confidential information.
- Well-developed problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and commercial awareness, capable of multitasking effectively.
- Possession of a full driving license and readiness for regular site travel.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- CIPD certification or equivalent.
- Experience working in manufacturing, logistics, or production settings.
- Familiarity with unionized workplace environments.
