Job description
Role overview
This role is being presented for a partner organization that handles all applications and subsequent hiring steps. The employer is seeking an HR Director located in Germany.
This is a high-impact opportunity to establish and lead a global People function from the ground up during a scale-up phase. You will shape the HR direction, introduce modern people practices, and put in place the systems needed to support fast international expansion across several regions. Working alongside executive leaders, you will influence culture, talent planning, and leadership growth, while using AI and automation to improve efficiency. The role is highly autonomous and combines strategic ownership with practical execution, making it well suited to someone who enjoys building scalable HR operations in a fast-moving, technology-led environment where people are a key business advantage.
Key accountabilities
- Create and deliver a broad People strategy that matches workforce planning to business goals and supports rapid global growth.
- Review the current HR setup end to end, including structure, compensation, compliance, talent workflows, and performance measures, and pinpoint where AI-enabled automation can improve effectiveness.
- Develop scalable processes for onboarding, probation, performance management, career growth, employee engagement, and exits.
- Put in place a structured, metrics-led hiring approach, including recruiting workflows, interview design, manager support, and candidate assessment.
- Set up HR dashboards and KPIs to track hiring speed, talent quality, retention, organizational health, and overall workforce performance.
- Build clear frameworks for grading, pay, performance reviews, and OKRs that support growth and employee development.
- Oversee HR operations across multiple countries, coordinating with payroll partners, EOR providers, and local compliance obligations.
- Choose, roll out, and improve modern HR systems such as HRIS, ATS, and automation tools.
- Recruit, coach, and lead a strong People & Talent team, while supporting managers in leadership, hiring, feedback, and team development.
- Encourage a high-performance environment grounded in ownership, accountability, collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- At least 5-7+ years of experience leading HR or People Operations, including building an HR function from scratch in a high-growth startup or scale-up setting.
- Direct experience in FinTech, Crypto, high-growth SaaS, or similarly fast-scaling technology businesses operating across multiple regions is required.
- Proven ability to help organizations grow quickly, ideally from around 50 employees to 200+.
- Strong background managing distributed teams and international employment arrangements, including EOR and multi-country compliance.
- Ability to set long-term People strategy while also staying close to day-to-day implementation of HR processes and systems.
- Data-led mindset, with hands-on experience using metrics, dashboards, and analytics to improve organizational outcomes and support decisions.
- Strong leadership in recruiting, with the ability to scale teams quickly without sacrificing quality or cultural alignment.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and executive influence skills, with confidence working closely with CEOs and senior leadership.
- Experience introducing HR technology, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve operational efficiency.
- Fluency in Ukrainian or Russian, plus intermediate or better English.
- Comfort working remotely across European time zones under a B2B contract.
Benefits
- Fully remote setup with collaboration across European time zones.
- B2B contract structure with flexibility and room for long-term growth.
- Compensation positioned in the top tier of the market.
- Performance bonus linked to clearly defined KPIs.
- Full ownership of the global HR function with direct access to executive leadership and decision-making.
- Opportunity to create the People organization from scratch during a critical international scale-up phase.
- Dedicated budget to grow the HR team and implement modern HR technology and automation.
- Pathway for career progression toward Head of People or Chief Human Resources Officer as the business expands.
- English-first, high-autonomy, merit-based culture focused on innovation, speed, and measurable impact.
