Housing & Neighbourhood Officer

Role overview

The Guinness Partnership is seeking a permanent Housing & Neighbourhood Officer to support its social purpose of keeping communities safe and helping deliver high-quality homes and housing services. This is a field-based role with regular travel across Chesterfield and Matlock.

In this position, you will act as a highly visible local presence and the main face-to-face contact for both homeowners and tenants. The role involves working across your patch in a mobile way, spending significant time out in the neighbourhood, speaking with residents, strengthening relationships, and resolving concerns. You will work alongside Estate Services and other internal teams to produce fast, effective solutions that lead to good outcomes for residents and the organisation.

What the role requires

This job calls for strong customer service experience in person, along with sound housing knowledge. Because the post is field-based, regular travel within the local area is essential. You must have a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

• Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service, with strong communication and people skills.
• Self-driven approach with the confidence to organise work and operate independently with limited supervision.
• Comfort using mobile technology while working away from a desk.
• Good time, resource, and priority management, with an eye on value for money.
• Experience working through legislative and organisational change.
• Strong judgement, problem-solving, and decision-making capability.
• Resilience when handling difficult situations and achieving lasting solutions.
• Ability to review data and reach sensible conclusions.
• Confidence using IT systems while on the move.
• Ability to demonstrate Guinness behavioural competencies.

Desirable background

• Previous experience in housing or property-related work.
• Academic study in Housing and/or Tenancy Management.
• Understanding of regulatory legislation affecting social housing.
• Prior experience managing budgets.
• Relevant professional qualification and/or equivalent experience.
