Job description
Role summary
Hyatt Place is hiring a full-time Houseperson in Mississauga, Ontario. In this role, you will help keep common areas clean, organized, and guest-ready while supporting housekeeping operations and responding to guest needs in a timely manner.
Key duties
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in elevators, lobby spaces, shared washrooms, stairways, and office areas.
- Replenish housekeeping carts with towels, linens, and guest amenities, while removing soiled linen and disposing of waste.
- Handle guest requests quickly, such as bringing items like ironing boards, pillows, or cribs.
- Take on deeper cleaning tasks, including shampooing carpets, moving furniture, and cleaning walls or windows.
- Flag repair or maintenance concerns, such as damaged furniture or non-working lights, and follow all safety guidelines.
- Be able to remain on your feet for extended periods, walk throughout the shift, and lift or carry heavy items, often up to 50 lbs / 20 kg.
- Work varied shifts, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Additional expectations
This role may include other duties related to the job as needed to support the hotel's ongoing operations.
Work environment
The position is focused on keeping guest-facing and back-of-house areas clean and comfortable, helping create a positive stay for hotel guests.
Qualifications
- Prior background in housekeeping or custodial work is preferred.
- Familiarity with industrial cleaning methods and equipment is an advantage.
- You should be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
- Good time management and the ability to handle priorities efficiently are important.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities are needed.
- English speaking skills are required for interaction with guests and team members; French is considered a plus.
- You must have a valid Canadian work permit or be a Canadian citizen.
