Job description
Job Overview
The Room Attendant is an important part of the hotel team, focused on keeping guest rooms, shared spaces, and other assigned areas clean, orderly, and comfortable. This role helps create a pleasant stay and supports overall guest satisfaction.
Key Duties
- Prepare guest rooms to standard by dusting, vacuuming, changing bed linens, and making beds.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including fixtures, counters, and amenities.
- Wipe down furniture, surfaces, and decorative elements in guest rooms and common areas.
- Replenish guest room supplies such as towels, toiletries, and linens.
- Remove waste from rooms and public spaces, and replace bin liners.
- Maintain floors by sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming guest areas, hallways, and public spaces.
- Spot and report repair or maintenance concerns to the appropriate team member.
- Watch for lost property in rooms and shared areas and turn it in to a supervisor.
- Communicate politely and professionally with guests when responding to questions or requests.
- Follow privacy, security, and housekeeping procedures at all times.
Skills and Abilities
- Prior housekeeping or similar hospitality experience is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and familiarity with proper cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment.
- Ability to work on your own and complete assigned rooms and cart organization efficiently.
- Good verbal communication skills for dealing with guests and coworkers.
- Basic awareness of sanitation and workplace safety practices.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
This is a physically active position that involves extended standing and walking, as well as climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Work may take place indoors with equipment and machines. The role can involve exposure to heat or cold, chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noise. Because of the physical and environmental risks, basic safety measures and protective equipment must be followed.
