Role Overview
As a Housekeeper, your role extends beyond cleaning; it involves crafting a safe and welcoming atmosphere where residents feel comfortable and valued. Each duty you perform contributes to preserving their dignity and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct light cleaning in residents' living spaces, including dusting furniture, mopping and vacuuming floors, cleaning washbasins, mirrors, showers, tubs, and responsibly disposing of waste from rooms.
- Maintain cleanliness in public and high-traffic areas by mopping, vacuuming, dusting surfaces, window washing, and emptying trash bins.
- Complete cleaning tasks per defined protocols, daily schedules, and hygiene standards for morning and evening shifts.
- Operate housekeeping equipment such as washers, dryers, auto-scrubbers, and vacuums safely and effectively.
- Deliver courteous, respectful, and efficient service to residents at all times.
- Adhere to WHMIS regulations and safe chemical handling procedures within the department.
- Collaborate with other departments to facilitate smooth housekeeping operations.
- Follow guidelines and instructions provided by the Resident Services Manager.
- Support team members as required to maintain operational excellence.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in housekeeping, ideally within healthcare or hospitality environments.
- Preferably experienced in seniors living or retirement home settings.
- Competency in using commercial cleaning machines and equipment.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Screening check conducted within the last six months.
