Role overview

Crestline Hotels & Resorts is looking for careful, dependable people to join the housekeeping team at the Newport News Marriott. This role supports both full-time and part-time housekeeping coverage and is focused on keeping guest rooms and shared areas clean, orderly, and ready for use.

What this role does

The housekeeper is responsible for a range of cleaning tasks that help maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the property. Work may include making beds, replacing linens, cleaning guest rooms and common areas, and vacuuming surfaces.

Core duties

  • Move linens, towels, toiletries, and cleaning products using rolling carts.
  • Clean guest rooms and all assigned public or back-of-house areas, including hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms, while meeting hygiene standards.
  • Collect and dispose of waste, including emptying trash bins and cleaning ashtrays.
  • Restock essentials such as glasses, linens, writing materials, and bathroom supplies.
  • Keep storage spaces and housekeeping carts organized, supplied, and sanitary.
  • Remove dust and polish furniture and equipment.
  • Vacuum and shampoo carpets, rugs, upholstered items, and draperies as needed.
  • Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and wood surfaces, and apply waxing or polishing when required.
  • Install drapes and dust blinds.
  • Follow property-safety precautions, protect guest and hotel belongings, and report any damage, theft, or lost-and-found items to a supervisor.
  • Clear debris from driveways, garages, and pool areas.
  • Count, sort, mark, and store clean linen in designated closets.

Career growth

Possible advancement paths include Housekeeping Supervisor, Housekeeping Manager, Operations Manager, Assistant General Manager, General Manager, and Area Vice President of Operations.

Education and experience

Some high school education is preferred. No previous work experience is necessary.
