About the Role

Join the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD), Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (OIDD), to contribute to meaningful care for individuals and families facing life challenges. This role at the Pee Dee Regional Center in Florence, SC, involves providing essential housekeeping services for residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an Intermediate Care Facility.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver custodial and housekeeping services independently for assigned building or dorm units.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of cleaning supplies and ensure their safe and proper use.
  • May oversee and guide a small team of custodial workers, assisting in training new staff as needed.
  • Report to supervisors regarding any issues related to custodial or housekeeping duties.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Prior experience in custodial or housekeeping roles.
  • Familiarity with cleaning standards, pest control tasks, and relevant safety practices.
  • Skilled in using cleaning tools and equipment efficiently.
  • Ability to read, write legibly, and follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Capable of maintaining precise written records.
  • Aptitude to train new employees on proper job procedures.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks requiring climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

Additional Employment Conditions

  • Employment contingent upon completion of medical screening (including drug test), background checks, fingerprinting, and other listed screenings.
  • Applicants working directly with consumers must complete tuberculosis testing prior to employment.
  • Healthcare workers must provide immunization documentation or receive immunizations against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella, and Hepatitis B prior to hire.
  • Employees may be required to work in emergency or disaster situations per the State Disaster Plan.
