About the Role

Hotel Equities, a recognized hotel development and hospitality management company with multiple awards to its name, is hiring a Housekeeper for the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in West Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. The role focuses on keeping guest rooms and shared spaces clean, orderly, and welcoming so guests have a pleasant stay and the property maintains high standards.

What You’ll Do

• Collect supplies from storage areas, stock the housekeeping cart, and keep carts and storerooms organized and tidy to support efficient room servicing.
• Clean windows, doors, walls, closets, and fixtures in guest rooms, corridors, and public spaces, using ladders or stools when needed to reach difficult spots.
• Scrub shower walls and tubs, clean toilets and stall walls where relevant, wipe pipes, mirrors, sinks, and surrounding surfaces to maintain sanitary washrooms.
• Replace towels, soaps, and other in-room amenities, and replenish guest literature when items are missing, damaged, or used by prior guests.
• Wash hard flooring such as linoleum and tile by hand to remove dirt and stains.
• Dust and shine furniture, fixtures, and wall décor, including vents and ceiling corners, to remove dust and cobwebs.
• Strip and remake beds with fresh linen, check bedspreads, blankets, and pads for cleanliness, and inspect beneath and between mattresses for soil.
• Inspect closets, clean closet doors, handles, and overhead shelves, and restock items such as hangers, extra pillows, and blankets.
• Vacuum guest rooms, hallways, and public areas, including under furniture and other hard-to-reach spots, while handling vacuums and moving furniture as needed.
• Check door and window locks for proper operation and quickly report any unsafe or unsecured condition.
• Review room equipment such as televisions, lights, lamps, faucets, and radios, and report maintenance issues in writing to the Executive Housekeeper for follow-up.
• Keep control of equipment, keys, and supplies at all times to safeguard hotel property.
• Maintain a warm, pleasant, and professional attitude at all times.
• Take on additional tasks as assigned by management.
• Support the laundry area by collecting soiled linens, sorting loads, operating washers, dryers, and pressers, and then folding and distributing clean linen to carts or storage spaces.
• Clean patios and balconies by sweeping or hosing the surface, wiping furniture and fixtures, removing trash, and cleaning doors and windows.
• Assist teammates and other departments when needed to help the hotel and department perform at their best.

Requirements

• High school diploma, secondary qualification, or an equivalent credential.
• Previous experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or similar housekeeping standards.
• Working knowledge of standard cleaning methods, cleaning chemicals, and basic cleaning tools and equipment.
• Ability to notice fine dust and debris in low-light areas and read written directions and computer printouts.
• Physical capacity to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly during an 8-hour shift.
• Manual dexterity and upper-body strength to push, pull, and move equipment, furniture, and controls throughout the shift.
• Ability to work with arms raised overhead for extended periods.
• Ability to move a fully loaded maid cart weighing up to 50 lbs through corridors and in and out of closets during the workday.
• Familiarity with housekeeping and laundry equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, carpet cleaners, carts, ladders or step stools, washers, dryers, and pressers.
• Comfort working around hazardous cleaning chemicals on an ongoing basis.
• Capacity for sustained physical work in an indoor, climate-controlled environment, with hot and humid conditions in laundry areas.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with guests and coworkers.
• Ability to read and write for paperwork, logging issues, tracking requests, and updating information.
• Problem-solving, reasoning, motivation, and training abilities.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Additional Information

This position is based in West Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada and is scheduled as a full-time, on-site role.
