Role Overview

The Housekeeper, reporting to the Manager of Environmental Services, will perform comprehensive cleaning and maintenance duties within assigned areas to ensure a safe and hygienic environment. This role also involves laundry responsibilities and occasional assistance with furniture moves or special event setups.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning tasks efficiently in designated areas.
• Collect and transport waste and recyclables using large carts.
• Maintain floors and carpets with regular care including stripping and refinishing as per protocols.
• Operate washers and dryers following prescribed procedures.
• Assist with laundry tasks such as folding, pressing, and distributing linens.
• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of laundry equipment and areas.
• Adhere to safe chemical handling practices, including the use of personal protective equipment as per Material Safety Data Sheets.
• Keep equipment and workspaces orderly and in good repair.
• Undertake special cleaning projects assigned by the supervisor.
• Set up spaces for special events and perform office furniture relocations as needed.
• Complete any additional duties as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Completion of at least Grade 10 or an equivalent educational level.
• Ability to read, write, and follow detailed instructions effectively.
• Physical ability to regularly lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs, including heavy furniture and equipment.
• Good personal hygiene standards.
• Experience with laundry operations preferred.
• Proven minimum two years of housekeeping experience within Long-Term Care or Acute Care settings.
• Familiarity with floor stripping, WHMIS standards, carpet care, and floor refinishing.
• Reliable attendance aligned with corporate standards.
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work well with colleagues, supervisors, and residents.
• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

The position requires working 80 hours biweekly, distributed as 8-hour evening shifts. The role is effective immediately upon hiring.
