Job Overview
Join Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as a Hotel Services Porter, contributing as a vital part of a dedicated team that delivers efficient portering support at the Arrowe Park or Clatterbridge hospital sites. This role requires working in alignment with Trust values to promote a positive experience for patients while maintaining essential infection control standards.
Key Duties
- Provide dependable portering services across various hospital departments including Pharmacy, Pathology, Endoscopy, Radiology, Post Room, Waste Team, Goods Distribution Centre, and Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.
- Transport patients within the assigned hospital premises following Trust policies with a caring and professional approach.
- Employ radios and telephones to coordinate daily tasks and maintain effective communication with colleagues and hospital staff.
- Handle and safely transport medical equipment such as gas cylinders, beds, blood products, specimens, pharmacy items, furniture, and other materials.
- Maintain cleanliness of wheelchairs post patient use and manage medical gas cylinders including replacement and secure storage.
- Respectfully assist in transferring deceased patients to the mortuary, including supporting external agencies with such transfers.
- Operate autoclaving machines within the Pathology department to sterilize used specimen containers and properly dispose of waste products according to classification.
