Role Overview
The position of Girls Hostel Warden at the Ranchi campus is a full-time, on-site role centered on managing daily hostel functions while guaranteeing a secure, inclusive, and supportive living environment. The warden’s responsibilities encompass supervising hostel staff, managing room assignments, enforcing discipline and regulations, and promptly addressing student issues with empathy. Collaboration with academic and administrative divisions is vital, along with overseeing cleanliness, maintenance, and arranging orientation or awareness activities focused on safety and wellbeing. Maintaining accurate records, effectively managing emergencies with composure, and fostering an environment conducive to academic and personal development are crucial aspects of the role.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency in student welfare and pastoral care, including conflict mediation, counseling skills, and emergency responsiveness.
- Experience in managing hostels or residential facilities involving staff supervision, housekeeping and maintenance oversight, and safety compliance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact positively with students, parents, and university personnel while respecting diverse backgrounds.
- Organizational expertise including record maintenance, report generation, and competent use of computers for documentation and communications.
- Ability to enforce institutional policies justly, maintaining discipline and a respectful, inclusive environment.
- Prior involvement in educational institutions or student accommodation settings is preferred; a graduate degree in any field with counseling or social work training adds value.
- Willingness to work flexible or extended hours when necessary and demonstrate high integrity, professionalism, and a sense of responsibility.
