The organisation focuses on genuine training settings, thoughtfully designed learning programmes, and a positive, supportive atmosphere. Its purpose is to create a meaningful impact in students’ lives.

Role overview
NZMA Hamilton is seeking a Hospitality Tutor to help prepare the next generation of hospitality professionals. This is a full-time, fixed-term role based in Hamilton for 6 months.
In this practical, student-focused position, you will deliver the Level 3 Hospitality programme and equip learners with the hands-on skills and industry understanding they need to succeed in hospitality. The role includes teaching café and barista service, food safety and hygiene, and function and event service, while maintaining a supportive and encouraging classroom environment.
Using your background in the hospitality industry, you will combine workplace knowledge with training delivery to build student confidence, strengthen professional conduct, and develop the capabilities employers look for. You will act as both an educator and a mentor, guiding students toward employment or further study in the sector.
Responsibilities
- Deliver the Level 3 Hospitality programme to students at NZMA Hamilton.
- Teach practical hospitality topics such as café and barista service, food safety, hygiene, and function/event service.
- Create a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment.
- Use industry experience to bring real-world context into lessons and training activities.
- Help learners build confidence, workplace-ready behaviour, and employable skills.
- Mentor students through their learning journey and support their progression into work or further education.
Requirements
- Recent hospitality industry experience, including café and barista operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership position.
- A qualification at Level 4 or above in Hospitality or a closely related discipline.
- Proven barista ability and familiarity with café service standards.
- Strong communication and people skills, with the ability to engage and encourage learners from varied backgrounds.
- Genuine interest in helping others develop and succeed.
- Teaching experience is helpful, though not required.
Perks and additional information
- Weekends off, plus 2 weeks off over Christmas and New Year, supporting work-life balance.
- Opportunity to work in an organisation that invests in employee development and promotes a fun culture.
- Chance to make a meaningful difference by supporting students in their education and career journey.
- Energetic workplace that values results over close micromanagement.
- Opportunity to work alongside the Campus Manager in helping the Hamilton campus grow and succeed.
- Supportive, enjoyable environment with room to stand out.
Application process
Applicants are asked to submit a resume and a cover letter explaining relevant experience and interest in the role.
