Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network is seeking a Hospital Assistant / Porter-Cleaner to support care delivery at its Randwick location. Compensation

The full-time equivalent base salary is AUD 57,614.53 to AUD 57,614.53. Superannuation, leave loading, and salary packaging are excluded from this figure.

What the role involves

This position supports nursing staff with non-clinical patient care activities, including lifting and moving patients. The role also assists emergency response teams and handles the collection and delivery of specimens, equipment, and consumables, along with replenishing stock and supplies.

In addition, the role includes assigned cleaning and waste management duties. These may cover routine cleaning, terminal cleaning, and work in both internal and external hospital areas to help maintain a high standard of cleanliness and reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant will bring prior experience in a comparable role within a health care environment. Strong English reading and writing skills are needed to perform duties safely and to the expected standard. The role also requires the ability to frequently push and pull mobile waste bins, patient beds, and trolleys.
