Job description
Role overview
ASB is hiring seasoned lending professionals to join a strong-performing team dedicated to helping more New Zealanders achieve home ownership. Because of an internal team shift, there are several openings in Third Party Distribution. This is an opportunity to further develop lending expertise in a team that values solid adviser relationships and positive customer outcomes.
The position
As a Home Ownership Specialist in Third Party Distribution, you will partner closely with Mortgage Advisers and build dependable working relationships while guiding them through the home loan journey. You will review and advance lending applications, keep your work pipeline under control, and deliver prompt, reliable outcomes in line with ASB credit policy. The role moves quickly, so you will need to juggle multiple priorities, remain responsive to advisers, and collaborate with teams across ASB to achieve the best result for customers. The role offers a high degree of independence and flexible working arrangements, and candidates based anywhere in New Zealand will be considered.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and sustain trusted relationships with advisers and other important stakeholders
- Evaluate home loan applications and recommend outcomes using a practical, solution-oriented approach
- Keep the application pipeline moving so service levels and deadlines are met
- Help ensure advisers receive a consistent, high-quality experience when dealing with ASB
What you will need
ASB is seeking experienced lenders who are comfortable handling more complex home lending scenarios and who enjoy relationship-building. To succeed, you should bring solid lending knowledge, sound judgement, and the ability to work confidently in a busy environment.
- Demonstrated background in home lending, including assessment of more complex applications
- Strong understanding of home lending products and credit procedures
- Confidence using financial analysis and credit-based solutions
- Ability to form strong, trusted relationships with advisers and internal teams
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Good planning and time management, with the ability to handle competing priorities
- A proactive, practical mindset and the ability to perform at pace
- CAA Level 2 is required; Level 3 is preferred
Additional experience
Experience as a Personal Banker with lending responsibilities would be an advantage, especially where it combines both relationship management and lending capability.
Working at ASB
ASB’s values shape how the bank works and how it supports employees, customers, and communities:
- Kia Manaaki | Care — putting people first and helping one another succeed
- Kia Māia | Courage — speaking up, challenging when necessary, and taking responsibility

You will join a collaborative and encouraging environment where you can strengthen your lending capability, deepen relationships, and build strong connections across the bank.
Benefits
- Opportunities to progress through training, mentoring, and internal career moves
- Health and wellbeing support, including Southern Cross Wellbeing One
- Attractive benefits such as discounted banking, insurance, and parental leave top-up
How to apply
Applicants should submit a CV and a cover letter summarising relevant experience. Applications may be reviewed as they come in, and the vacancy could close early if the right person is found.
Pre-employment requirements
Successful candidates must complete pre-employment screening, which may include a Police Check, Credit Check, AML compliance checks, verification of qualifications, and relevant overseas checks where applicable.
