Role overview
Walsh Waste & Recycling is seeking a skilled HGV Artic Truck Driver to join its waste management operations. The role focuses on moving waste and recycling loads safely and in line with all relevant rules and procedures.
The position is based at the Bellanaboy Gas Terminal (BBGT) in Glenamoy, Ballina, County Mayo, with occasional work required in other parts of Mayo, Galway and Clare, as well as from the company’s main depot in Oranmore, County Galway.
What you will do
- Drive articulated vehicles to move bulk liquid waste as the main task.
- Transport bulk waste and recyclable materials using articulated trucks.
- Follow all waste handling and transport compliance requirements.
- Carry out daily vehicle inspections and raise any defects or issues.
- Keep transport records, logs and associated paperwork up to date.
- Coordinate with site personnel and dispatch to support efficient route planning.
- Work in line with health, safety and environmental standards set by the company and its clients.
- Support the BBGT site team with general site duties and, when articulated work is unavailable, operate other vehicles as needed.
What we are looking for
- A valid CE (Class 1) driving licence with CPC qualification and Digi Card.
- An ADR licence is helpful, though not mandatory.
- At least 2 years of experience operating articulated vehicles.
- Previous exposure to waste or haulage work is preferred.
- A solid understanding of transport rules and safe loading methods.
- A dependable, punctual and safety-focused approach.
- Flexibility for early starts, occasional weekend work and shift patterns.
