Role Overview
This full-time remote position is for a Heavy Equipment Operator who will handle a range of machinery used in construction, maintenance, and facilities-related work. The job includes tasks such as loading, grading, excavation, and moving materials. The operator will inspect equipment before and after use, follow site plans and work instructions, and make sure all activities meet safety and environmental requirements.
Key Duties
- Operate heavy machinery such as loaders, excavators, backhoes, and similar equipment to support project work.
- Carry out earthmoving activities including excavation, trenching, grading, and site preparation.
- Perform checks before and after equipment use to confirm safe and proper operation.
- Follow work orders, supervisor instructions, and site plans accurately.
- Work in line with safety rules and environmental standards at all times.
- Coordinate with supervisors and teammates to keep work aligned and efficient.
- Record completed tasks and immediately report equipment faults, hazards, or safety concerns.
- Support basic upkeep of assigned machines and help with repair coordination when needed.
- Assist with planning and logistics for equipment use across multiple job locations when required.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment, especially loaders, excavators, backhoes, or comparable machinery.
- Practical background in excavation and related earthmoving work such as grading, trenching, and preparing sites.
- Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, inspections, and repair coordination for equipment.
- Comfort working with used machinery while understanding its operating limits and maintenance needs.
- Strong awareness of workplace safety practices and relevant standards such as OSHA or equivalent regulations.
- High school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required; technical training or certifications in heavy equipment operation are preferred.
- Valid operator certification or license for the relevant equipment, where required by local rules.
- Ability to work on your own while communicating clearly with remote supervisors and team members.
- Physical fitness to operate machinery for long periods and work outdoors in changing conditions.
