Heavy Duty Cleaner - Lead Hand

About the Role

GDI Integrated Facility Services is seeking a Heavy Duty Cleaner - Lead Hand for its Windsor, Ontario location. The role combines hands-on custodial work with lead hand duties, supporting daily cleaning operations across two nearby buildings.

GDI is a large facility maintenance provider serving Canada and the United States, with a long track record in the industry, modern operating practices, and environmentally conscious processes.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time onsite position scheduled from Wednesday to Sunday.

What You Will Do

The position involves maintaining clean and safe facility spaces, including floors, carpets, washrooms, offices, common areas, entrances, and waste collection points. In addition to routine cleaning, the role includes lead hand support and helping the supervisor when required.

• Clean floors, stairs, and other indoor surfaces by sweeping, mopping, and washing.
• Carry out stripping and waxing, carpet steam cleaning, and window cleaning when requested.
• Clean windowsills, interior door glass, partitions, and designated windows.
• Wash glass and trim on entrance doors, both inside and outside, and spot-clean interior walls daily as needed.
• Sanitize washrooms and replenish paper supplies each day, including wiping glass surfaces, emptying bins, servicing soap and toilet paper dispensers, dusting sills, cleaning tile walls and shelves, and scrubbing partitions and floors.
• Support the supervisor with additional tasks whenever assistance is needed.
• Observe and report maintenance issues such as clogged urinals, blown lights, and similar defects.
• Work between two buildings located across the street from each other, including shower-related areas.
• Collect trash daily, move it to approved containers, and place it in the assigned collection area for pickup.
• Replace waste basket and trash liners according to specifications.
• Perform high dusting and wall washing.
• Operate heavy-duty cleaning equipment, manage compactors, handle garbage removal, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Take on lead hand duties along with the assigned cleaning responsibilities.

The ideal candidate should be able to follow instructions, work with limited supervision, and contribute effectively as part of a team. Strong attention to detail, reliability, energy, organization, and a commitment to quality service are important. The role also requires outdoor tasks such as parking lot patrols, litter pickup, and garbage collection.

A criminal background check is required. The candidate must also have their own transportation.
