Role overview
This position is for an HCPC-registered scientist to contribute to one of Europe’s highest-volume stem cell transplantation laboratories. The service supports a major transplantation programme that is licensed by the Human Tissue Authority and accredited by JACIE, and it also takes part in a wide range of cellular therapy clinical trials. The centre additionally provides treatment using licensed commercial products and is preparing to join work involving Tumour Infiltrating Lymphocyte (TIL) therapies.
What the team does
You will join a committed laboratory team within the Haemopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Programme. The team processes, stores and distributes cellular therapy products for patients undergoing transplantation, and operates under a robust quality management system designed to meet national and international legal and clinical standards.
The service plays a key role in patient care and donor safety, with close coordination across laboratory, clinical and quality management teams to keep the service safe, effective and continuously improving.
Key responsibilities
The post requires work in a clean-room setting, handling bone marrow, stem cells and other cellular therapy products for transplant use. You will be expected to uphold consistently high standards in a highly regulated environment, maintain current knowledge of haematology and stem cell transplantation biology, and stay up to date with relevant working practices.
The role demands a responsible, self-driven scientist who can contribute effectively to a small specialist team and support the ongoing delivery of a busy and complex clinical laboratory service.
