Job description
Position Summary
The Healthcare Navigator supports patients and local community members by guiding them through eligibility and enrollment for Medicaid, CHIP, and Federal Marketplace health insurance programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out outreach efforts and educate both existing patients and people outside the health center about affordable coverage choices and the Marketplace.
- Build and maintain strong knowledge of enrollment rules, eligibility standards, and program details while helping promote public awareness of Marketplace options.
- Help individuals complete enrollment applications and understand whether they qualify for individual health plans.
- Keep up with changing regulatory requirements, plan eligibility rules, authorization processes, and system needs.
- Work through unresolved enrollment or documentation issues with insurance carriers so patients can keep or complete coverage.
- Partner with the Case Management team to strengthen patient communication, improve outcomes and reimbursement, and support smoother workflows.
- Attend community outreach activities, health fairs, and informational sessions as needed.
- Help monitor enrollment statistics and patient payment activity.
- Review and clear electronic work queues efficiently and accurately.
- Support financial reporting, project work, and audit preparation when required.
- Serve as a contact person for registration and clinical support staff.
- Handle additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- An Exchange Enrollment Facilitator Certificate is required, or the candidate must complete the training within 30 days.
- At least 3 years of experience in healthcare insurance enrollment is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong time management skills.
- Solid analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with particular strength in Excel.
- Willingness to complete all related trainings and certifications.
Schedule
- Full-time role with a 5-day workweek.
- Rotating weekend shifts are part of the schedule.
- Work location may change as needed.
