Location and Work Hours

This position is based at Radius Karori Care at 29 Messines Rd, Karori, Wellington.

  • Full-time role: 37.5 hours weekly, primarily night shifts
  • Part-time role: 18 hours weekly

Role Overview

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will deliver outstanding care to residents, working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Building strong relationships with residents and their families is key, alongside close collaboration with the care team to apply individualized care plans. Comprehensive training is provided.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Providing personal care while promoting residents' independence and decision-making
  • Completing delegated tasks efficiently and punctually
  • Responding promptly to resident needs and supplying relevant information
  • Maintaining and updating health records of residents
  • Assisting in resident handovers during shift changes

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Preferably holds a New Zealand Level 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or equivalent qualification
  • Prior dementia care training is advantageous
  • Experience in caregiving or aged care within New Zealand is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and empathy towards residents and their families
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities
  • Flexibility to work according to the assigned roster
