Role Overview

Windmill Healthcare is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and empathetic full-time Healthcare Assistant to support the night shift at Clarinbridge Care Centre in Clarinbridge, County Galway. This role is based in a recognised, award-winning care home and offers the chance to work within a progressive team focused on brain injury, spinal care, and rehabilitation.

Clarinbridge Care Centre is a 56-bed facility with a dedicated unit for acquired brain injury and spinal care. The organisation provides structured training, ongoing professional development, and guaranteed-hours contracts with paid breaks. Pay is competitive, with enhanced rates for Sundays and public holidays.

Key Duties

In this role, you will work alongside the nursing and care team to deliver high-quality, person-centred support to residents. The position involves helping maintain comfort, dignity, mobility, and wellbeing during the night shift.

Responsibilities

  • Support nursing staff in delivering high-quality, person-centred care to residents.
  • Build familiarity with residents’ preferences, needs, and routines to offer meaningful support and companionship.
  • Assist with mobility, including supervision and practical help to maintain or improve movement where possible.
  • Help residents with personal care and hygiene needs while protecting dignity at all times.
  • Support residents with eating and drinking and help them remain physically comfortable.
  • Take part in planning, organising, and delivering social and recreational activities.
  • Maintain regular communication with residents’ families and the wider care team to support positive relationships.
  • Contribute to keeping the home clean and well maintained.
  • Help uphold health and safety standards throughout the facility.
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks assigned by the Nurse in Charge or management.

Requirements

  • FETAC/QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Positive, caring, and professional approach to daily work.
  • Fluent English, both spoken and written.
