About the Role

Wiehler Mechanical Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Health, Safety & Fleet Advisor to foster and uphold a robust safety culture throughout the company. The successful candidate will work closely with management and on-site teams to ensure full adherence to Alberta's health and safety regulations, manage the COR (Certificate of Recognition) program, and oversee the smooth and safe operation of the company fleet.

This role requires hands-on engagement, including coaching staff, problem-solving, and continuously enhancing operational processes.

Compensation and Work Schedule

The position offers a competitive annual wage ranging from $65,000 to $85,000, contingent on experience, qualifications, and proven skills. You will enjoy a reliable Monday to Friday work schedule, generally from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with some flexibility to accommodate site visits, training sessions, or incident responses as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety:

  • Promote an active safety mindset through targeted coaching, training, and educational initiatives
  • Design, deploy, and sustain health and safety protocols and initiatives
  • Guarantee compliance with Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety laws, Workers' Compensation Board standards, and client safety demands
  • Manage the COR program, handling both internal and external audits
  • Carry out workplace inspections, hazard analyses, and safety monitoring
  • Lead investigations into workplace incidents and suggest corrective actions
  • Organize safety-related training, orientations, and certification updates for employees

Fleet Management:

  • Administer daily fleet operations
  • Schedule preventative maintenance, repair work, vehicle inspections, registrations, and insurance procedures
  • Utilize telematics and fleet data to track performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Oversee the driver safety program, including coaching and post-incident follow-ups

Collaborative Efforts:

  • Align with Operations, Human Resources, and field leadership to enhance safety outcomes
  • Evaluate fleet and safety data, produce reports, and suggest refinements
  • Support workplace injury return-to-work and modified duty programs

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Business, or a related discipline (preferred)
  • Three to five years' relevant experience in health and safety within the construction sector
  • Experience with COR program management and incident investigation procedures
  • Familiarity with commercial fleet coordination
  • Comprehensive understanding of Alberta's OHS legislation, WCB procedures, and safety practices in construction
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License alongside a clean driving record

Preferred Certifications

  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO)
  • Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
  • COR Internal Auditor
  • Standard First Aid Certification
