Job description
Overview
We are seeking a vigilant and committed Health Safety Environment (HSE) Officer to manage daily health, safety, and environmental activities on-site for extensive Infrastructure and Mass Earthworks projects. The role demands strict enforcement of safety protocols, comprehensive site inspections, and diligent monitoring of heavy machinery to uphold a secure working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily health, safety, and environment site inspections and conduct toolbox talks for staff and operators.
- Supervise operations of heavy equipment, ensuring excavation stability, proper mass filling, and smooth site traffic control to eliminate hazards.
- Mandate the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and guarantee adherence to Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and Risk Assessment guidelines.
- Detect unsafe behaviors or site conditions, halt hazardous activities when necessary, and enforce immediate corrective measures.
- Support incident investigation processes, document safety breaches, and keep daily logs of HSE observations and inspections.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Possess a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Hold certifications including NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC), OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry, and First Aid & CPR.
- IOSH Managing Safely certification is advantageous.
- Have 3 to 5+ years of practical HSE experience specifically with major civil infrastructure, site preparation, and mass earthworks projects.
- Demonstrate robust knowledge of heavy machine safety procedures, excavation risks, traffic management, and emergency protocols.
