Job description

Job Overview

A prominent firm is looking for a seasoned Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager to oversee safety-related facets within a large facilities management contract. The appointed candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety standards, shaping safety policies, guiding audits and investigations, and guaranteeing adherence to both local legislation and international norms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and roll out the HSE Management System specific to the project.
  • Ensure adherence to all HSE standards mandated by the company, client, and governing bodies.
  • Lead efforts in identifying risks and hazards through comprehensive assessments.
  • Investigate incidents thoroughly and enforce appropriate corrective measures.
  • Manage preparedness strategies and emergency response frameworks.
  • Supervise contractor adherence to HSE protocols.
  • Coordinate and conduct HSE audits internally and externally.
  • Track HSE Key Performance Indicators and generate monthly reports.
  • Organize and deliver training sessions and campaigns to raise HSE awareness.
  • Work closely with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
  • Cultivate and maintain a culture emphasizing strong safety principles across the project.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • Mandatory NEBOSH International General Certificate.
  • Certified ISO 45001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor.
  • Certified ISO 14001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor.
  • Additional training in risk assessment, incident investigation, emergency response, fire safety, and permit-to-work systems.
  • A minimum of 8 years in relevant HSE roles with at least 3 years in managerial or supervisory capacity.
  • Practical experience in sectors such as facilities management, industrial operations, logistics, warehousing, food storage, port operations, or other high-risk operational environments.

Required Competencies

  • Expertise with Integrated Management Systems (IMS).
  • Strong knowledge of legal and regulatory compliance related to HSE.
  • Proficient in managing contractor safety compliance.
  • Skilled in conducting risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Competent in emergency preparedness and audit management.
  • Ability to report on HSE performance effectively.
  • Capable of liaising with clients and regulatory authorities efficiently.
  • Exceptional leadership qualities and communication abilities.
