Role overview
An established WA business is looking for a practical, experienced Health, Safety and Environment Advisor to work alongside the HSEQ Manager and strengthen safety performance across Perth and regional sites. This is a senior, field-based position for someone who enjoys being visible on site, working closely with crews and leaders, and helping shape a strong safety culture.
The role involves supporting day-to-day compliance, carrying out inspections and audits, leading investigations, and driving improvements across health, safety and environmental practices. It includes metro and regional travel, with a roster of 10 days on and 4 days off, and a worksite vehicle is provided.
Location: Perth, Western Australia, with DIDO travel to regional sites
Roster: 10 days on / 4 days off
Salary: Up to 140000 + super + worksite vehicle
Employment: Full-time
Start: Immediate start available
What you will do
- Assist the HSEQ Manager in meeting WHS legislation, industry standards and internal procedures.
- Help foster a positive, preventative safety culture across operational teams.
- Run inductions, toolbox talks, pre-start meetings and other safety awareness activities.
- Carry out site checks, audits, risk assessments and contractor evaluations.
- Investigate incidents and hazards, prepare reports in INX or a similar platform, and follow through on corrective actions.
- Track plant, equipment and work methods to make sure safety requirements are being met.
- Develop effective working relationships with employees, contractors and client representatives.
- Support the ongoing improvement of HSEQ systems, policies and procedures.
What the employer is seeking
- At least 3 to 5+ years of experience in HSE, WHS or a comparable advisory role.
- ICAM certification.
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety or Occupational Health & Safety.
- Current C class driver's licence and White Card.
- Strong understanding of WHS legislation, risk management and behavioural safety practices.
- Confident communication skills, with the ability to work with site teams, management and external stakeholders.
- Competence with Microsoft Office and the preparation of management reports.
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
Desirable background
- Exposure to mining, transport, asphalt or civil construction; civil experience is considered an advantage.
- Experience in environmental management.
- Plant operating tickets and/or earthmoving equipment experience.
- HR driver's licence.
- First Aid, Traffic Management or Training & Assessment qualifications.
- Auditing experience within OH&S management systems.
