Job description
Overview of the Role
We seek to appoint a knowledgeable Health, Safety and Wellness Advisor to offer expert support, guidance, and advice to leadership at Wellington Free Ambulance. This position plays a key role in assisting leaders to effectively manage risks related to health, safety, and wellbeing, fostering positive workplace environments.
Working in partnership with leaders, employees, volunteers, and key stakeholders, the Advisor will support the ongoing development and enhancement of health, safety, and wellness frameworks, initiatives, and systems. Providing counsel on risk and incident management, wellbeing, legislative compliance, and current best practices, the Advisor enables leaders to meet their responsibilities and enhances team capabilities.
Through coaching and influencing, plus practical, evidence-backed recommendations, the Advisor contributes to cultivating a positive health, safety, and wellbeing culture aligned with fulfilling the organisation's strategic and operational goals.
About Wellington Free Ambulance
Wellington Free Ambulance is a trusted provider of emergency and connected ambulance services for the Greater Wellington and Wairarapa regions. As the sole emergency ambulance service for these areas, it supports roughly 500,000 residents with not only emergency responses but also patient transfers, clinical communication via 111 calls, event medical support, and community CPR education.

Desired Skills and Experience
- Three to five years' experience in a comparable Health and Safety Advisor role or similar capacity.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and associated legislation.
- Proficient knowledge of health and safety management systems (HSMS) and their practical application.
- Experience contributing to the design, planning, and execution of health, safety, and wellness strategies and programs.
- Familiarity with data analysis and insights to enhance organisational HSMS effectiveness.
- Previous involvement with ACC Accredited Employer programs or injury/illness rehabilitation is an advantage.
- Possession of a full, clean New Zealand driving licence is mandatory.
