About the Role
We are inviting a passionate Health Coach to join the Te Ara Waiora team based in Waipukurau, serving the Central Hawkes Bay community. This part-time position comprises 36 hours weekly (0.9 FTE) with working hours from Monday to Thursday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and Friday 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
In this role, you will empower whānau by equipping them with the necessary knowledge, skills and confidence to achieve their health objectives. Working alongside our Clinical Nurse team, you will provide supportive guidance facilitating positive lifestyle adjustments that enhance overall wellness.
Additionally, you will be responsible for organizing and leading our vibrant kaumatua activity program. This includes designing activities, coordinating outings, arranging guest speakers, and hosting events for two weekly kaumatua hui, thereby fostering connection, support, and manaakitanga for the local elders.
Candidate Expectations
- Completion of accredited Health Coach training is preferred.
- Qualification in Hauroa/Health, Nutrition, Sport & Recreation or a related discipline is required.
- Ability to communicate fluently in Te Reo Māori along with cultural understanding of tikanga Māori.
- Awareness of issues and needs facing kaumatua.
- Possession of a current full New Zealand driver’s licence.
- First aid certification is advantageous.
- Demonstrated commitment to organizational values and kaupapa.
- A warm, approachable personality with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Personal dedication to health and wellness.
- Experience delivering outcome-focused work with individuals and groups.
- Professional conduct in all work aspects including presentation and practice.
- Strong adherence to privacy and confidentiality standards.
