About Planned Parenthood California Central Coast
Planned Parenthood California Central Coast (PPCCC) is a respected provider of affordable, high-quality reproductive health services along California’s Central Coast. Annually, PPCCC serves approximately 28,000 individuals through services such as STI testing and treatment, birth control, cancer screenings, vasectomies, and legal abortion care across six health centers. Additionally, PPCCC offers comprehensive sexual education aimed at empowering adults and teens to make informed health choices.
Role Overview
Reporting to the VP of Health Center Operations, the Health Center Director leads a multi-service reproductive health program which includes abortion services. This role ensures patient-centered care aligned with organizational goals and is responsible for supervising non-clinical staff recruitment, training, and performance evaluation, as well as the fiscal management of health center operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all relevant medical protocols approved by the Medical Director, including state and federal guidelines.
- Uphold internal administrative policies and California state regulations, updating staff on procedural changes as necessary.
- Prepare and oversee program budgets in partnership with the VP, managing financial operations such as fee implementation, inventory control, ledger balancing, deposits, and invoice approvals.
- Supervise cash handling and bank deposit reconciliation processes.
- Maintain adequate staffing levels and foster positive staff relations through effective recruitment, training, supervision, evaluation, and discipline.
- Organize staff schedules and ensure licensed personnel coverage meets service demands, coordinating schedules with lead clinicians.
- Review and approve timesheets and leave requests for all health center staff.
- Monitor health center operations to maximize efficiency and patient flow.
- Champion patient satisfaction and address feedback proactively.
- Participate actively in Clinical Services Team activities, including Compliance Quality Assurance/Risk Management Committees and other organizational committees.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control, safety, and emergency protocols.
- Strengthen community partnerships and serve as a spokesperson to promote Planned Parenthood’s mission locally.
- Manage health center maintenance, repairs, and safety in collaboration with Facilities and Security staff.
- Innovate ways to maintain center operations efficiently and cost-effectively while meeting performance goals.
- Submit timely monthly and annual reports as required.
- Provide support and backup assistance to staff as needed.
- Collaborate with lead clinicians to provide staff feedback and promote professional development.
- Perform other duties assigned by the VP of Health Center Operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversee Patient Services Assistants, Health Care Assistants, and Assistant Center Directors.
- Handle personnel issues for all health center staff fairly and efficiently.
- Complete performance evaluations for non-licensed staff and facilitate annual skills assessments.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to non-licensed team members.

Customer Service Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Director of Experience to set patient experience goals and monitor feedback.
- Ensure healthcare delivery respects cultural and linguistic sensitivities.
- Respond promptly to patient concerns within 24 hours.
Productivity and Operations
- Lead the health center team to achieve key performance indicators.
- Partner with Director of Revenue Cycle to ensure staff training on billing practices.
- Review monthly financial statements to ensure revenues and expenses adhere to budgets.
- Engage actively in the budget process, incorporating team input.
- Ensure adequate staffing to meet visit and revenue goals.
Education and Experience
A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required along with a minimum of two years in health care management, preferably within reproductive health services.
Language and Computer Skills
- Ability to handle sensitive inquiries effectively.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and web conferencing tools.
- Experience using electronic health record systems.

Compensation Information
The starting salary for this position is $118,372.80 annually, with the possibility of a raise after six months. An additional bilingual pay differential of $1.00 per hour is awarded after passing a language proficiency test. The organization adheres to pay equity and does not negotiate salaries.
