Role Overview
This full-time Health and Safety Officer position is located on-site in Newmarket, County Cork. The role supports the safe execution of engineering and manufacturing facility projects, specifically involving the installation of a biogas boiler and an expansion to an existing manufacturing site.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures aligned with legal and company standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure safe work environments.
- Prepare and manage safety documentation and reports demonstrating compliance with relevant regulations.
- Provide safety training and guidance to project teams to enhance safety awareness and practices.
- Investigate safety incidents thoroughly and support the formulation and execution of corrective measures.
- Maintain accurate records of safety activities and collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to promote continuous safety improvements across all project sites.
- Oversee health and safety matters covering civil, mechanical, electrical, automation, and equipment contractors associated with the projects.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven expertise in health and workplace safety within engineering or construction settings.
- In-depth knowledge of Occupational Health and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) principles, including hazard recognition, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Relevant certifications evidencing formal health and safety management training.
- Familiarity with Irish health and safety legislation, industry standards, and best practices in manufacturing and industrial environments.
- Strong communication and training capabilities, enabling effective engagement with site teams and clear safety documentation preparation.
- Excellent organisational and analytical skills, including experience in incident investigations and the ability to work autonomously on-site.
- A diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or related discipline is preferred; experience in dairy processing or medical device facilities is advantageous.
Contract Details
The project is slated to commence in August with an initial contract duration of 12 months. There is potential for contract extension if the project continues or new projects become available.
