About the Role

Tetra Tech is inviting applications for the position of Health and Safety Officer to contribute to prominent projects within both public and private sectors across Ireland and beyond. Central to the project teams, this role supports delivery by maintaining and enhancing the company's Health & Safety Management Systems. The position operates on a hybrid basis with offices located in Dublin, Galway, and Cork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) and coordinate Health & Safety throughout the design phase as per the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.
  • Manage PSDP projects by overseeing client interactions, coordinating project tasks, and ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and according to scope.
  • Provide expert guidance on compliance with legislation and industry best practices related to Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Offer technical support and leadership to clients and design teams on safety matters.
  • Prepare and manage essential Health & Safety documentation, including Preliminary Safety and Health Plans and Safety Files for projects.
  • Oversee all occupational health and safety requirements within the engineering consultancy.

Candidate Profile

  • In-depth knowledge of construction Health & Safety regulations, systems, and procedures.
  • Competent to act as a PSDP under the Safety, Health & Welfare Act 2005 and related Construction Regulations 2013.
  • At least eight years' experience in safety management within building or civil engineering infrastructure projects, including leadership roles such as Project Supervisor Design Process or Project Supervisor Construction Stage.
  • Experience with safety management systems such as OHSAS 18001 or ISO 45001.
  • Skilled in creating and reviewing Risk Assessments, Design Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, and Safety & Health plans.
  • Proficient with IT tools, especially Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Diploma, degree, or equivalent qualification in Health & Safety, preferably focused on Construction Health & Safety.

Desirable Additional Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or related design discipline complemented by recognised Health & Safety training.
  • Membership or progression towards chartered status with professional bodies such as Engineers Ireland, IOSH, or the Institution of Civil Engineers.
